I have a love/hate relationship with moisturisers as I’ve always had oily skin for as long as I can remember so the thought of putting something so creamy on my oily skin scared the crap out of me.
My skin was probably oily because it was so dehydrated that it compensated the dehydration by producing too much oil. Unfortunately, I knew about it a little too late. If I had known earlier I would have slathered moisturiser onto my face day and night.
A few months ago I tried a serum that was supposed to heal my acne scars but instead it made my skin so dry I have dry patches on my cheeks, chin, and above my brows.
It had come to the point where I picked on the flaky skin all the time because my face was not producing any oil at all. My face felt like sandpaper and irritated and I was so stressed out.
I’ve heard good reviews about Simple Kind to Skin Hydrating Light Moisturiser so I went out and purchased it. Unfortunately, it did nothing to my dry skin. I personally think that the Simple moisturiser suits people with normal/combination skin as it is not hydrating enough for people with dry skin like me.
The Organic Aid Vitamin E Moisturizing Cream was a product that I was once scared to use because the word ‘moisturizing’ seemed daunting to me. Now that my skin needs all types of moisture it can get, this moisturiser was the only drugstore product that I was eager to try.
It comes in a brown/beige tub in two sizes: 1oz (28gm) for MYR 19.30 and 4oz (110gm) for MYR 43.50. The 1oz tub lasted me about a month before I had to repurchase another.
Some people might hate tub packaging because it’s unsanitary but I personally really like it because I can get every last bit of the product out.
This moisturiser contains natural vitamin E called d-Alpha Tocopheryl. I’m no pharmacist so you can read more about it here.
The white protector cap is very flimsy so once I opened a brand new moisturiser I quickly throw the cap away.
Review:
I love this moisturiser for all the right reason. It suits my sensitive skin and I’ve never had any irritation or redness on my skin. However, this moisturiser does not have SPF in it but I personally don’t mind because I’m always home and I don’t get much sun at all.
It’s quite a thick moisturiser so you have to really blend in into the skin and it will be absorbed right away. You will feel that your skin is moisturised and supple without feeling greasy.
Since my skin was so dry, the first week I tried it my skin still didn’t produce oil at all from morning till night although I can feel that the dry patches were getting less sandpapery feel.
Now that I’ve used it for over a month and already repurchased both 1oz and 4oz tub, I can feel that my skin is producing oil but not as much as before which is fine for me.
It’s a good moisturiser for my skin but without toner and moisturiser, my skin is still dry but with less dry patches than before.
I absolutely love this moisturiser before applying makeup as it hydrates my skin very well so I don’t get dry patches or cake face. It gives me a glowy and dewy skin but of course with the help of dewy foundation and primer. It makes my base makeup last longer too although I’ve never worn foundation for more than 6 hours.
If you think your choice of moisturiser is not important, then in my defense you are wrong. I have worn Simple moisturiser before applying makeup and I hated it. My skin looked dry and my foundation looked cakey especially around my nose area even with moisturising primer and a dewy foundation.
Since this moisturiser has natural vitamin E which is an antioxidant, I found that my hyperpigmentation from acne has lightened just a little bit and not as harsh looking as before. My skin is looking better and I don’t need much coverage to conceal my scars.
I use this moisturiser twice a day — after shower in the morning and at night right before bed. This moisturiser suits every skin types including oily skin because no matter what skin type you have, your skin must be well hydrated or it will start producing so much oil.
However, if you’re in need of something even more hydrating to ‘fix’ your skin, I would suggest going for Laneige Water Sleeping Mask. Organic Aid Vitamin E Moisturizing Cream is suitable for your normal day to day cleanse – tone – moisturise skincare routine.
What moisturiser are you using right now? Does it do wonders for your skin?
