I value my desk space.
It’s my safe space – happy place – that I always come to after I put my kids to bed. As I get older, I notice that my taste in workspace decoration has changed immensely. From wanting everything white, to everything neutral and minimal as to avoid clutter.
The me a few years ago would want white desk with a bunch of washi tape organisers and pen holder with loads of stationery on top of it, not caring that I had basically a small area left for doing work. But now, the more space I have the better.
One thing that helped in minimalising my desk is when I converted to digital planning. I no longer need a bunch of notebooks and planners on my desk and I also did not need my pen holders and washi tapes.
However, I do not throw them away. I still have my paper stationery and writing tools on another desk that sometimes my husband uses.
A little throwback wouldn’t hurt, would it?
I am still a stationery lover: I just don’t use them as my main planning tools anymore.
I am left-handed. So you can see that my most reach stuff are on my left side. I have a wooden tissue box that I got from Shopee, as well as my plain water tumbler with coaster right beside it. It needs to be on the inside area of my desk or my toddler would reach for it and I don’t even want to think about having to clean up the mess.
Sometimes I’ll have my coffee cup – or tea – but mostly it’s just plain water as I need to keep hydrated.
And I have my iPad Air 4 in a new pink case that I just got a few weeks ago. The pastel pink colour is to die for and I love that I can charge my Apple Pencil as the pencil slot is on the magnetic side. I have as well a wooden iPad holder that is great for watching videos.
On the center area of my desk, I have my MacBook Pro with the dongle. I got the wooden laptop stand on Shopee and typing just gets even better when my wrists don’t hurt as much. My mouse pad has the letter E on it for my name and I have the Magic Mouse 2 that I got late last year.
I know that I have gone digital, but like I said I am not going to waste stationery that I have already bought so I’m using the Leuchtturm1917 metallic edition dotted notebook in Copper as my diary.
It’s beautiful on my desk and I love having that journal at arm’s reach so I can write when I have the time. To accompany the journal, I have the Paper Mate Ink Joy gel 0.5 to write with. It’s one of my favourite pens to use. I love the ink although it does get smudged a little when you’re left-handed.
I have a white container for keeping small things but right now I only have a couple of my Apple Pencil silicone grip in it. Using the grip on my Apple Pencil wouldn’t fit in the case so I keep it on my desk for whenever I’m writing on my iPad.
I have my AirPods in a Starbucks case and my phone on an Ikea phone stand. I believe the model is BERGENES, super cheap and works well for both smartphones and tablets provided you use a very thin casing.
So what do you have on your desk?
